We are not yet at the point where we can say that the future high-end smartphones from Samsung no longer hold any secrets. However, the Samsung Galaxy S21 or S30 series is gaining more and more attention as its official presentation is not expected for several months. Today, the Galaxy S21 Ultra shows an overview of its technical sheet.
Indeed, the 91Mobiles site has partnered with the famous leaker Ishan Agarwal to deliver some features of the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra. Right now, it’s best to say that this information should be taken with minimal tweaks, but the source in question has hit the nail on the head several times in the past.
Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra, let’s get after it!!
A logical evolution
On the program, the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra would therefore be entitled to a large 6.8-inch “AMOLED 2X” screen. ‘On the photo side of things, we find the famous 108 megapixels main sensor on the back that’s very popular with Samsung. On the front, a 40-megapixel sensor would take care of the selfies.
Ishan Agarwal and 91 Mobiles also mention a 5000 mAh battery in the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra and a system running natively on Android 11 via the One UI 3.0 home interface, currently in beta. So everything suggests that in terms of pure features, this smartphone would be essentially a logical, more refined evolution of the Galaxy S20 Ultra.
A more surprising design
The most striking novelty of this phone would rather lie in its design. According to renderings of the Galaxy S21 Ultra (or S30 Ultra) posted on the web, the rear photo module wraps around the phone in the upper left corner of the back panel.
Also note that according to the latest rumors in the hallway, the officialization of this range of smartphones is scheduled for the end of January. If that turns out, Samsung would be ahead of its usual schedule. It would be surprising as the year 2020 and the health crisis that accompanied it posed a problem for market players to meet their release deadlines.
Samsung Galaxy S30 / S21 release date, Price and other Rumors
We take a look at the latest rumors for Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Ss and share our wishlist for its possible new features.
Each year, Samsung releases its flagship Galaxy S line of smartphones, with a modified design, improved photo sensors and more advanced technology than the year before.
The latest Galaxy S20 line had three phones, the S20, S20 Plus and S20 Ultra, and this is the second time the S line has had so many models in a year.
We believe Samsung will continue this trend in 2021, but it’s not certain that the next one will be called the Galaxy S30 or Samsung Galaxy S21. With the move from the S10 to the S20 we’re pretty sure the company will go for the Galaxy S30 smartphones. With the launch of the Note 20 Ultra and the massive improvements to the S20 Ultra, we can’t wait to see what Samsung plans for its next Galaxy S.
Samsung Galaxy S30 / S21 release date
It is very likely that Samsung will announce the Galaxy S30 in February 2021. For the past few years, the South Korean company has gotten into the habit of making the announcement in February, after moving the Galaxy S’s from Mobile World Congress to its own Unpacked event.
Everything suggests that the same will be true for its next lineup, so the S30 Unpacked should take place in February and the new models should be available in March.
Nonetheless, it looks like that could change. Indeed, one of the first leaks from an established source on the subject, OnLeaks (aka Steve Hemmerstoffer), hints at an earlier than usual release, namely January 2021, which accords with separate reports indicating that production of the next S range will start much earlier than all previous generations.
Hemmerstoffer has published a number of posts regarding the S21 / S30 on the new social media platform, Voice, his source claims that “Samsung will officially launch the Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21 Plus and Galaxy S21 Ultra in January 2021″!
This information was corroborated by the Korean site Maeil Business (spotted by Sleepy Kuma, on Twitter), whose sources have suggested that the flagships will be announced in the first part of January and will go on sale in late January or early February. .
The date change likely serves to distract from sales of Apple’s iPhone 12s, while continuing to capitalize on Huawei‘s inability to compete as it is subject to US restrictions.
Samsung Galaxy S21
The 4G version is only possible with the Exynos chip, sold in Europe and Australia for example. The Snapdragon 865, which US users take advantage of, necessarily has 5G, so the cheapest S20 for that market is $ 999.
The S20 Plus starts at $ 1,095, while the S20 Ultra starts at $1,399. Pricing for the S30s should start around $ 1,000, as Samsung is unlikely to offer a 4G version for just one of them. Prices for Samsung phones tend to drop quite quickly, but they always stay high.
It looks like Samsung has already decided what colors will be available in the different variants of the Samsung Galaxy S21.
The upcoming Samsung Galaxy S21 series will feature three variants, Vanilla, Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21 + and Galaxy S21 Ultra. Its sources tell it that the entry model will be available with gray, pink, purple and white color options, while the Samsung Galaxy S21 + will only be available in black and silver.
The top-of-the-line Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra will get the same color variants as the Galaxy S21 +, but it will also include a Purple color option.
Ultra variant of the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 or that the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 was going to include S Pen support. Regardless, we also expect Samsung to come up with more color options, and we’ll likely start to see those options as we get closer to the possible phone launch, which is now supposed to take place in January.
Yet the Samsung Galaxy S21 has already started to leak in some CAD renderings and in a video that lets us see the device from all angles. These images suggest that the camera module bump could get bigger than in previous models, but at least we could get fewer bezels, flat screens in two of the three upcoming variants, leaving the Galaxy S21 Ultra as the only one.
We were also told not to expect an under-screen camera in the Samsung Galaxy S21 series, as Samsung has reportedly decided to include this new feature in the upcoming Galaxy Fold 3, which may also make changes to its technology. ‘display for finally include S Pen support.
The Galaxy S21 is expected to be Samsung’s first smartphone to run with a 120Hz refresh rate and QHD + definition. The Galaxy Note 20 and Galaxy S20 do have a 120 Hz screen, but this mode cannot be activated when the definition is at its maximum, you have to be satisfied with Full HD +. This choice has never been justified by Samsung, but it is likely that it is a way to save the autonomy of the phone which is just average.
A technical tour de force
While the move to QHD + at 120Hz is a fine technical achievement, it shouldn’t transcend user experience. On a 6.2 inch diagonal screen, it is very difficult to distinguish a difference between QHD and Full HD. In both cases, the resolution exceeds 400 pixels per inch, which is already very impressive.
If we trust the latest rumors, the next flagship of Samsung will be announced in early January with marketing in stride. Several images circulate on the internet, its design would not evolve in depth. It would be above all to reduce the thickness of the borders (which are already very thin) and to review the design of the photo module at the back. On the technical side, we can expect a Snapdragon 875 processor with 5nm engraving and better 5G support.
