Launch dates

Following last year’s release of the iphone 11, it’s only logical for shoppers to expect the new iPhone 12. Multiple leaks show that it may get launched by either October or November 2020.

Sizes

Apple’s iPhone 12 entry-level model will most likely be 5.4 inches, a completely new size for Apple. Another 6.1 inches iPhone 12 model which is similar to iPhone 11 size will also be launched.

Price

In terms of prices, the iPhone 11 stands at a starting price of $699 while the iPhone 12 may have a starting price of $749. In case these rumours turn out to be true, then the iPhone 12 will be $50 more expensive than the iPhone 11. These prices, especially that of the iPhone 12, maybe accurate if were to follow the usual iPhone pricing pattern.

Another difference here is the fact that Apple usually lowers prices for older phones when a new one is released. So we expect the price of the older iPhone 11 to go down and become more affordable for users who may have been waiting to purchase. For example, the iPhone 11 iPhone price may drop to about $599 from $699. This also sets the bar and difference as automatically the iPhone 12 will cost much more than the latter series.

Design

Expect to see a mild makeover of the iPhone 11. At least Apple never disappoints with their designs. The iPhone 12 may embrace flatter sides, which are different from the iPhone 11 rounded design.

In terms of thickness, the iPhone 12 will be 8.8mm while the iPhone 11 is slightly thicker at 8.3mm. These new features will see the iPhone 12 take on an even sleeker and slimmer look compared to the previous iPhone 11.

For the case of the phone screen, rumours point out to a possible shrink for the iPhone 12. How is this possible you may ask? The speaker will be moved from where it was.

Colours

As for the phone colours, Apple last year introduced the iPhone 11 in colours like purple, yellow, green, white black and yellow. This year they are likely to welcome a deep blue colour for the iPhone 12 although it hasn’t yet been confirmed.

Display

The rumored iPhone 12 models will feature an OLED display which is different from the iPhone 11 LCD screen. The OLED display has some advantages compared to the LCD screen. Some of them are more vibrant colors, deeper blacks, and the possibility to view from wider angles.

Renowned sources claim that the 120Hz ProMotion display will be awarded to the iPhone 12 Pro allowing it to have seamless and smoother scrolling experiences when watching videos or playing games. The 60Hzrate owned by the previous iPhone 11 may make a comeback on the iPhone 12.

Performance

The iPhone 12 is expected to feature apples new Bionic processor. This is going to be Apple’s first 5nm chip compared to the iPhone 11 A13 Bionic chip. We expect better performance with this new upgrade.

Storage

Apple has long been known for its anonymity when it comes to listing their phone’s RAM. This time around, however, the iPhone 11 featured 4GB space of RAM. The difference about this is that according to major reports Apple has also allocated 4GB RAM of space to the iPhone 12. It may not seem as much of a big difference but the fact that iPhone users now know the storage specifics is a huge change.

Camera’s and LiDAR scanner

iPhone 11 and iPhone 12: The iPhone 11 camera received much appreciation as regards the camera. More especially the night mode feature and it is a next-level Smart HDR. The iPhone 11 houses a standard wide and ultra-wide lens. The 5.4-inch iPhone 12, on the other hand, is expected to feature two more lenses again although it won’t have a new LiDAR scanner. The new LiDAR scanner will be featured on the iPhone 12 according to numerous sources.

The iPhone 12’s main sensor will most likely receive an upgrade from a wide camera to a 64MP sensor. Similarly, the night mode feature that’s available on iPhone 11 will shift to telephoto and ultra-wide cameras on the iPhone 12 series.

Connectivity

iPhone 11 and iPhone 12: For the 5G connectivity feature, we didn’t see on the iPhone 11 because it worked only with 4G and LTE networks. This time around though the iPhone 12 promises to embrace the 5G network together with the rest of the next models. This will enable faster video downloads in areas that have poor network connectivity. Although it hasn’t yet been confirmed it’s a highly expected possibility.

Battery and charging

Apple likes to keep their phones sleek and lightweight so it’s unlikely that they’ll stuff them up with bulky batteries either. The iPhone 11 has a 3, 1000 mAh battery which lasts fairly long according to tests carried out. It can last for up to 11 hours and 16 minutes of phone activity. The iPhone 12 battery still isn’t known, though it’s expected to be a 4,400 mAh battery. Another big difference is the huge battery size but still is a great upgrade.

Conclusion: Differences between the iPhone 11 and iPhone 12

Are the iPhone 12 rumours enough to keep shoppers on their toes? That we know for sure is that there will be differences in price and also phone design has to change. The 5G connectivity rumour has also lingered around for quite some time and it would certainly hurt it id didn’t feature in the iPhone 12. For now, though, we can only wait and see it these new upgrades from the previous iPhone 11 will take effect or see even more surprising changes.
