The Sony  Xperia 5 II was announced on 17th of September 2020 via an online event. From the leaks, the new device is slightly more of a compact version of the Xperia  1 II that was recently launched earlier 2020.

The Sony Xperia 5 II is an upper mid-range smartphone.  The Handset comes with some interesting features expected to be loved and enjoyed for potential buyers. Sony Xperia 5 II has an IP65/IP68 rating, nice body design, an impressive camera setup, a large screen display size.

Sony Xperia 5 II Display & Design

The Sony Xperia 5 II comes in a sleeker design than it’s successor.  The device appears in a slim frame, nice curves with the signature IP65/68 water-proofing of Sony’s mobile phones. A Corning Gorilla glass 6 on the front and back. There is also a 3.5mm headphone socket and dual stereo speakers.

Sony Xperia 5 II has control panels down the right-hand side of the phone, also a dedicated shutter button and Google Assistant button ,volume and fingerprint scanner, bezels on top and bottom of the display. Sony Xperia shares a striking semblance with the Xperia 1 II , but look more upgraded.  The Sony 5 II has a 6.1 inch display with a full HD+ resolution. The device comes in different colours such as; Black,  Grey, Blue, Pink.

The Handset offers a gamers appeal, as the phone is equipped with a 120Hz display. The phone also comes with a motion blur reduction feature of 240Hz,with the aim of producing sharper and clearer imaging and super speed responses.

The phone also comes with Sony’s famous 21:9 aspect ratio, and OLED panel powered by XI mobile engine, HDR support.

Sony Xperia  5 II has a triple rear camera setup. Sony equipped the phone with Zeiss optics , very good hardware for mobile phone photography. While on the back side of the phone has three cameras, which includes a 12MP primary camera with an aperture of f/1.7, a 12MP telephoto camera, and a 12MP ultra wide camera with an aperture of 124°angle which has an aperture of f/2.2.

Sony Xperia  5 II rear cameras has video records modes that includes 4K@24/30/60/120fps, 1080p . There is also the HDR mode ,Panorama and eye-tracking features for the camera settings.

The selfie camera has 8MP with an aperture of f/2.0. This camera can shoot up to 1080 30fps .

The Sony Xperia 5 II runs on Qualcomm snapdragon 865 5G. The device is also supported by 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage together with a micro SD support for more storage capacity.

Battery

Sony Xperia  5 II has a battery capacity of 4000mAh and 21W fast charging.  No wireless charging due to Sony’s graphene heat dissipation pad feature, the heat dissipation pad helps keep the phone cool.

Release date & price

The Sony Xperia 5 II is has been released and is now available.

For the price , there are speculations the phone might cost up to €799 in the UK and £899 in Europe,  being a 5G model smartphone, the device is expected to be more expensive than the previous Xperia 5 versions.

Sony’s smartphones have always lived up to its expectations right from inception, and from the look of things the Xperia 5 II isn’t going to be an exemption. The phone promises a lot of fantastic features for smartphone lovers out there.  There is something for everyone when it comes to the Xperia 5 II smartphone. We know the handset has not got wireless charging capability, however, the device is still a pretty decent handset. Sony Xperia 5 II has the tendency of high demand and competitiveness. The handset has now been released and is available via popular carriers.
